ANIMAL AND BIOSCIENCE

Teagasc is the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority and undertakes research in the areas of agriculture, food, biosciences, the environment and the rural economy. Teagasc is the largest public research institute outside of the university system in Ireland and one of Ireland’s leading research bodies. The Animal & Bioscience Department is located at the Teagasc Research Centre, Grange in Co. Meath (about 35 km away from Dublin), and has world-class facilities and infrastructure. 

ANIMAL & BIOSCIENCE DEPARTMENT

Founded in 2008, it rapidly expanded, linking Animal Bioscience with previously existing animal science research areas in Teagasc. Staff currently consists of 19 researchers, 10 postdoctoral fellows, 10 technicians, and about 50 MSc and PhD students, who carry out their studies in collaboration with Irish or international Universities.

RESEARCH FACILITIES

The main facilities at the Animal & Bioscience Research Department are state-of-the-art genomic, proteomic and endocrine laboratories. There are also excellent laboratories for nutrition, physiology and animal health focused analysis and a modern facility for in-depth animal experimentation.
